A state gas tax increase has some Connecticut boaters docking their vessels, while others are limiting how much time they spend on the water.
Peter Stern of Fairfield is preparing his boat for a 12-day trip and himself for the gas bill. Stern?s boat holds 400 gallons of gasoline, which will total up to $1,500. Gas for boats tops about $3.90 in Bridgeport and is expected to rise due to an increase in the state?s gas tax that took effect Saturday.
Boaters say while they?re unhappy about the jump at the pump, they won?t let the price keep them out of the water.
