Three members of the Connecticut Interstate Fire Crew joined efforts to combat wildfires in North Carolina, the state's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) confirmed.
The crew departed from the DEEP's eastern headquarters on Sunday morning to assist in Western North Carolina, where persistent drought conditions, coupled with freshly fallen leaves, have heightened the risk of wildfires.
Earlier this year, members of the Connecticut Interstate Fire Crew also contributed to wildfire containment efforts in Montana and Canada.
