The Connecticut Red Cross is raising awareness for a critical need for blood donations. 

According to the Red Cross, every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. 

The organization has been making Halloween-themed posts on social media to encourage residents to donate and avoid further blood shortages. 

There is even an incentive if volunteers give blood or platelets from Oct. 20 to Nov. 16 the Red Cross will send a $10 e-gift card to a merchant of choice.
