The Connecticut Yankee Council hosted its annual Women in Leadership luncheon Wednesday at the Country Club of New Canaan.
It honors women in the community who exemplify Scouting values such as kindness and civic engagement.
News 12 Connecticut's own Rebecca Surran was the emcee.
The goal of the event is to highlight local role models for girls involving Scouts BSA.
"Back in 2018, girls were allowed to join Cub Scout programs. And in 2019, they were allowed to come to what we called Boy Scouts program, but now it's called Scouts BSA, so this really adds to giving those girls opportunities to see women in leadership roles around the communities and use that to inspire them," said Mark Kraus, Scout executive at Connecticut Yankee Council.
The luncheon also raised money for Scouts throughout the state.
