Connecticut lawmakers approved a controversial plan that will extend sick leave to all workers.

Currently, only companies with 50 or more workers are required by law to extend paid leave to workers.

The provisions will phase in over the next three years and by 2027 all companies will have to offer the benefit to their employees.

Critics say this would be a major cost for small businesses.

Gov. Ned Lamont has said he will sign the bill.

News 12’s Connecticut Justin DeVellis spoke to lawmakers and local businesses and employees on the new bill.
