A new store opened on Bronson Road in Fairfield this week, which is filling a void once felt by the community.
The Corner Market & Sandwich Shop opened just a week ago and is already feeling the love from the Greenfield Hill neighborhood.
The lot was vacant for some time, until Erin and Shawn Reilly got word of the open space.
"We really saw the opportunity in the neighborhood to be a place where people could gather," said Erin Reilly.
The Reillys said their goal is to be the go-to spot between grabbing a coffee, a bite to eat or getting some groceries.
It's a huge responsibility because we know how much this space means to the neighborhood," said Erin Reilly.
Executive chef Roman Ortega, who recently left New York City to work there, said it's been a pleasant change of pace.
"New York is a lot of a rush and you're like running all the time but here it's more relaxed, it feels like home,” said Ortega. “It's actually more comfortable and you feel like you get to relax and do what you like."
The store is currently in a soft open phase but will ease into a full opening in the new year.
