ALERT CENTER: COVID-19 numbers drop across the state and Mid-Hudson region

New York officials are encouraged by the improving numbers of COVID-19 cases across the state and in the Mid-Hudson region.
The state's positivity rate has dropped from 23.17% on Jan. 3 to 13.12% on Jan. 17.
Gov. Kathy Hochul is encouraged by the drop but says New Yorkers need to stay vigilant. "We are not through the winter surge yet and it is critical that we continue to use the tools that will help stop the spread. Our best weapon is the vaccine."
In the Mid-Hudson region, the positivity rate on Jan. 4 was 23.31% and was 15.49% on Jan. 16.
