Jeffrey Garfield, Executive Director of the State Elections Enforcement Commission, testified Friday in the ongoing fundraising investigation. The committee questioned Garfield about whether he was wrongly influenced by people working for Governor Jodi Rell (R-CT). Garfield defended his actions and told committee members he violated no law or regulation, nor was he influenced by his conversations with Lisa Moody, the governor?s chief of staff, or Kevin Deneen, the governor?s campaign manager. The government administration and elections committee are investigating the settlement that resulted from more than a dozen commissioners violating election law by handing out invitations for a Governor Rell fundraiser to their employees.
