Police arrested a Fairfield father Wednesday accused of holding his 13-year-old son captive and torturing him.
Police say David Rodriguez tied up his son in a basement and beat him with a two-by-four because he wasn?t handing in his homework on time.
?[Rodriguez] secured his hands and feet with tie wraps and duct tape to a pole in the basement, then proceeded to use a two-by-four and smack him at least seven times on the buttocks,? says Captain Gary MacNamara of the Fairfield police.
Police say the boy's half sister was upstairs at the time and could hear what was going on. They say Rodriguez left at one point and told his daughter not to go downstairs. She went down, freed her brother and called 911, they say.
Both children are in the mother's custody while both Fairfield police and the state continue to investigate.
