The town of Darien began its annual summer sidewalk sales Thursday as officials are encouraging residents to shop locally this weekend.
The town will host over 50 vendors along Post Road and Corbin Drive. Mr. Balloon Guy and his creations will entertain kids Friday, and there will be face painting and a youth entrepreneurial tent for teens to sell their homemade items on Saturday.
"I think a lot of the businesses, they don't meet the numbers if they don't have their sidewalk sales,” said Darien Chamber of Commerce executive director Kesti Aysseh. “It's really important to unload everything that they have had in storage you know and on the floor for the last few months."
The sales continue on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
