In the three years since COVID hit Connecticut, many businesses have been forced to shut their doors, unable to withstand the fragile economy. But there were businesses that took the plunge and opened during the pandemic.
Davis Feliz always dreamed of opening his own salon. His location in Greenwich is busy now, but when COVID hit, he wasn't sure the salon could ever be a cut above the rest.
His wife says after years of planning, Davis Feliz Salon was scheduled to open in May 2020. But that had to be pushed back a month when certain businesses had to shut down across the state due to COVID restrictions.
When new protocols were put into place and salons were able to open, everyone rushed to get their hair done after months of being stuck at home, and Davis Feliz Salon was ready.
"We learned that first off, dreams do come true, because what felt like was something that was never going to happen as a result and literally wasted away in a matter of a month came back tenfold," said Megan Feliz.
The salon has since doubled its staff and learned the importance of people.
"Valuing people and making sure that you are giving them just as much as they're giving to you," said Megan Feliz.
