DEEP: Dog injured during fight with bear in Torrington
Officials say a Torrington resident was taking the trash to a dumpster with his leashed dog when a bear emerged from behind and startled the owner.

A dog was injured after it fought with a bear in Torrington, Department of Energy and Environmental Protection officials said.
It happened at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday.
Officials say a Torrington resident was taking the trash to a dumpster with his leashed dog when a bear emerged from behind and startled the owner.
The man then dropped the dog's leash and the two animals started fighting. The bear then left the area.
Officials say the dog was taken to an emergency veterinarian hospital for treatment.
Their condition is not known as of 5:45 p.m. Thursday.
