The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection says it's looking to diversify its workforce.
DEEP says it's aiming to attract a workforce that's more representative of the state's population.
The department is now recruiting for seasonal positions.
The positions include lifeguards, park rangers, maintenance workers and interpretive guides.
Some seasonal employees also assist DEEP professional staff with research projects for forestry, fisheries and wildlife management.
DEEP says hourly rates for seasonal employees have recently gone up, ranging from $15 to $19 an hour.
With 110 state parks and 32 state forests, DEEP says seasonal jobs are a good way to get involved with the department, especially for those interested in a career working outdoors.
DEEP says the state park system is more popular than ever as a result of the pandemic, adding seasonal staff plays a crucial role in administering the many resources state parks and waterways offer.
