The man accused of killing a husband and wife in their Fairfield Jewelry store four years ago is willing to plead guilty of the crime.
Chris DiMeo, who was arrested two years ago for the killings of Tim and Kim Donnelly, is willing to plead guilty of the charges if he can get life in prison instead of the death penalty. The defendant's council says that the state attorneys have not accepted the offer.
The defense attorneys say that accepting the plea would require taxpayers to pay for DiMeo's imprisonment during tough financial times.
The case is scheduled for court next Monday.
