Doctors say it's vital for people who don't want to get vaccinated against COVID-19 to start thinking about it due to a new strain of the coronavirus considered to be very dangerous.
Dr. Michael Parry, the head of infectious diseases at Stamford Hospital, says that the Delta variant originally found in India now has a mutation called Delta Plus. He says the concern about Delta Plus and the Delta variant is that they can be more dangerous and highly transmissible.
There have been a few cases reported in the United States so far. Parry says people are concerned about the effectiveness of the vaccines we have, but from what is known right now, they are effective enough to fight against the recent variants.
Parry says because of testing, it's not absolutely sure that the variants haven't been detected in our area yet.
