A new startup from the founder of ZocDoc may help you find doses of COVID-19 vaccine that would otherwise have gone to waste.
After verifying your phone, the website asks a few questions about your age and occupation and adds you to a national registry. When a clinic reports doses at risk of being wasted, Dr. B will send a text to eligible patients nearby with an opportunity to grab the appointment.
Doctors at Yale New Haven Health say the size of their network has allowed them to use a similar waitlist system at their vaccination clinics.
State officials say it's no replacement for signing up through the VAMS portal when your eligibility date arrives.
They report that so far, only 10 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been wasted in Connecticut for lack of a patient to give them to.
