A mangled wreck is all that remains after a fatal, single-car accident in Stratford Sunday, prompting residents to call for a crack down on speeding.
Investigators say the 22-year-old man was driving so fast his vehicle skidded at least 300 feet on Huntington Road around 3:30 a.m. The impact of the crash uprooted one tree and snapped another. Police say the car was so damaged they could not identify the make or model. Police closed off the road, which was scattered with sneakers and CDs, for several hours.
Neighbors say they are not surprised by the tragic accident because they often see drivers flying along the road at 50 mph. One mother says she can empathize with the victim?s family because she has a 19-year-old son. Police are witholding the man's name pending notification to his mother, who is reportedly out of town.
