Connecticut's education unions are calling on the state to enact a series of COVID-19 prevention policies as school resumes for the second half of the year.
The Board of Education Union Coalition unveiled a nine-point plan that includes requiring N95 masks at all times regardless of vaccination status and free access to COVID-19 testing at all schools.
"It's really important to reinforce the fact that we are fully committed to being in the classroom, that's where we want to be, that's where we do our best work, but we need to do that safely," said Connecticut Education Association President Kate Diaz.
Union leaders are also calling for the prohibition of combining classes and want to make sure teachers are not forced to use sick time while in quarantine.
