The Norwalk Fire Marshal Division is investigating an electrical fire Monday at a two-story fire at a two-story vacant warehouse.
Crews responded to 6 Wilton Ave. just before 7 p.m. There were no injuries.
According to a Norwalk Fire Department news released, firefighters noticed that smoke was coming from the second floor. They then determined that there was an electrical fire inside the building with a significant amount of arcing coming from inside. Arcing is when an electric current jumps across a gap in a circuit.
A decision was then made not to allow firefighters to enter the building until the electric company arrived to shut off the power.
"There was some kind of a cable that broke in between the beams," said Soterios Koletsos, the property manager.
Koletsos was appointed property manager in 2019 after both businesses operating in the warehouse closed. He said the electrical boxes are fairly new – installed in 2015.
The last companies didn't clear the scene until about 10:15 p.m. Only one section of the warehouse was damaged.
