Paramedics and EMTs all over the country are being celebrated during National EMS Week for their hard work, especially during the pandemic.
Maggie Parisi has been an EMT in Trumbull for the last five years. She says their world was turned upside down when COVID-19 hit, with many calls for a lot of the nursing homes in an older community in Trumbull.
She says it's been a little bit different since then, but she's still responding to some serious calls.
"It was a little scary in the beginning, but once you just get thrown into it and you're dealing with every day, you kind of get used to it," said Parisi.
Parisi also works at the emergency room at St. Vincent's Medical Center.
The theme for this year's EMS week is Caring for Our communities.
