Bridgeport’s Beardsley Zoo has welcomed Ranger, a male American Red Wolf, to its animal family.
Ranger, who is 2.5 years old, comes from the National Zoo as part of their Species Survival Plan aimed at preserving this critically endangered species.
Ranger will join Taylor, the zoo's resident female red wolf, in what is a significant step towards conservation efforts. The American Red Wolf population in the wild is perilously low, with only 290 individuals under protected care and a mere 17 surviving in their natural habitat without human intervention.
