(05/17/06) HARTFORD ? Local leaders, energy experts and representatives of the energy industry met in Hartford Wednesday to brainstorm energy cost-saving measures.
Legislators say they?re trying to help Connecticut residents with skyrocketing energy costs. However, House Speaker Jim Amann (D ? Milford) wants to make sure any future laws make sense and will really make a difference in helping residents save money. Amann says he understands there is a world problem when it comes to oil, but local leaders can?t just sit back while prices continue to rise.
Representatives of the utility companies, gas industry and elected officials all spoke at the meeting. Amann says he?ll only call legislators back for a special session if they come up with a solid plan.
