Joe Kaliko, a former member of the Connecticut Medical Examining Board, is criticizing the Connecticut Vaccine Advisory Group for not recommending people 65 and older be allowed to get the vaccine next.
The panel made its recommendation this week, excluding people between the ages of 65 and 74 from Phase 1B of the vaccine distribution program.
More than a dozen states have broken with the CDC recommendation in allowing people in Kaliko's age group to get the vaccine.
"I feel awful as a 74-old-year senior citizen here in Connecticut with multiple comorbidities that I'm excluded potentially from the Phase 1B being considered by the state of Connecticut,"he said.
The governor has yet to act on the group's recommendation, but is expected to do so any day now.
