An unexpected fly by visit Saturday by an exotic parrot has temporarily put the breaks on one Norwalk family?s Independence Day weekend.
?We were out by the pool,? explained Michelle Payne. ?We heard rustling in the trees. All of a sudden there was another noise in the tree and these wings were coming at me.? Payne says the bird, a Yellow Amazon worth thousands of dollars, landed a few feet from her and squatted poolside for two days until she took it in.
The parrot has since been nesting in Payne?s bathroom, and she?s even given him a name, Indie, in honor of Independence Day. Indie?s been stuffing himself on pistachios and cherries, while the Paynes contact wildlife agencies and local veterinarians to track down the bird?s owner.
The Paynes urge anyone who might help place the bird to contact them at 203-750-8737.
