Fairfield Country Day School held a skate and hoops a-thon to raise money Friday for Make-A-Wish Connecticut.
Students in Kindergarten through fifth grade chose to either skate or shoot baskets.
Organizers tell News 12 the event is a great way to teach kids the importance of helping others.
"They understand the cause they are supporting. We preceded this event with an assembly," says Head of School Margot Pearce. "They love to know their hard work is making a difference in the lives of other kids."
The skate and hoops a-thon has been a school tradition for 15 years with over $150,000 raised.
Make-A-Wish Connecticut says it has granted more than 3,800 wishes to local children.
