Fairfield County Sports Hall of Fame & Youth Foundation celebrates 20th anniversary
The Fairfield County Sports Hall of Fame & Youth Foundation has called Chelsea Piers home since 2019.

Local kids from many organizations, like The Carver Center in Norwalk and The Cardinal Sheehan Center in Bridgeport, are benefitting from the generosity of the Fairfield County Sports Hall of Fame & Youth Foundation.
"We've had ties to News 12 and all the media people here and without them we couldn't have gotten things done," said Tom Chiappetta, with the Fairfield County Sports Hall of Fame & Youth Foundation.
In the past two years, the organization donated nearly $120,000 to support more than 20 youth organizations, local charities and camps.
For 20 years, the Fairfield County Sports Hall of Fame & Youth Foundation has been celebrating some of the greatest athletes and coaches in the area, including baseball's Bobby Valentine, from Stamford, and NFL Hall of Famer Steve Young, from Greenwich.
"We had Dorothy Hamill, Bill Toomey and then Bruce Jenner who won the decathlon. They all won gold medals in the amateur wing," said Chiappetta.
Since the first class in 2005, the hall has honored nearly 130 Fairfield County sports legends from 21 different communities.
Some of its inductees have even spent time at the camps, like former NBA star Wes Mathews and Olympic gold medalist Sue Merz.
From 2005-2018, the organization's heroes could be seen at the UConn Stamford Campus.
Now, their home is at Chelsea Piers in Stamford - hopefully, for years to come.
Since 2008, the Fairfield County Sports Hall of Fame & Youth Foundation has given back over $400,000 to more than 100 youth organizations.
