A very special organization in our area that is still giving back to the community is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
The Fairfield County Sports Hall of Fame & Youth Foundation has called Chelsea Piers home since 2019.
Bronze plaques will hang on the walls there honoring some our greatest athletes and sports figures from Fairfield County and Connecticut.
Since the first class in 2005, the Hall has honored 126 county sports legends from 21 different communities.
Including NFL Hall of Famer Steve Young from Greenwich and baseball's Bobby Valentine from Stamford.
From 2005-2018, the HOF called home at the UConn Stamford Campus but those plaques are going to Chelsea Piers.
It was originally called the Fairfield County Sports Commission.
In the past two years the organization donated nearly $120,000 to support more than 20 youth organizations and local charities in 10 different county communities.
Since 2008 it has given back over $400,000 to more than 100 youth organizations covering 16 towns.
