With most COVID-19 rules now lifted, a gym in Fairfield says it will be using the honor system and not checking vaccination cards.
The Edge says it's seen a steady increase of new members this past week, and that it's likely because of Gov. Ned Lamont choosing to follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for those fully vaccinated to unmask indoors and outdoors.
Staff say masks are optional for fully vaccinated members and guests, and those unvaccinated need to continue wearing their masks. This also goes for all employees.
Businesses say the CDC's new guidance is putting pressure on them whether to decide if masks will be optional. Other gyms in Fairfield have their own vaccination requirements.
Sportsplex, in Stamford, is requiring proof of vaccination before ditching the mask.
Instead, the small gym is still taking temperatures and as members scan their card in, a V for vaccinated pops up on their screen after showing the gym their vaccination cards.
