Fairfield woman says time is running out as she waits for a liver donor
Living donors need to be between 18 and 60 years old, have no serious medical conditions and go through evaluation testing at Yale New Haven Hospital.

A Fairfield woman is in desperate need of a liver donor.
Amanda Werkle, 40, has been waiting for the phone to ring for two years and time is running out.
"I am a fighter and I have hope. Every day that I have is a beautiful day," says Werkle.
She is one of nearly 100 people in Connecticut on a liver transplant list.
"I just hope that there is somebody out there, my unicorn that is willing to help me out. Reach out to Yale and see if they could be my potential donor because my life depends on it," says Werkle.
In December 2022, Werkle started feeling run down. She was admitted to Yale New Haven Hospital and was later in a coma for a week.
Werkle is specifically waiting for a partial liver transplant match that could save her life. She says her chances of finding a donor are less than 10%.
"I have so much living I want to do. I want to see my niece and my nephew grow. I want to see my friends and my family thrive," says Werkle.
Werkle is living in pain, has countless doctors' appointments and has to take numerous medications.
There is a website where potential donors can go to learn more about her story.
"You're saving somebody's life, and there really is no better gift than that," says Werkle.
