At least one car was damaged after bricks fell off a building in downtown Bridgeport.
City officials responded to the scene on Main Street around 10 p.m. Thursday. They say since it was dark, they decided to close off the area until they could get a better assessment.
Officials returned Friday and determined the building, which is currently under construction, to be structurally sound.
Fire officials say they aren't surprised because bricks get worn down in older cities, especially when buildings are under repair.
Other buildings along Main Street are also undergoing construction as part of a revitalization project downtown.
Roads were closed to traffic between Golden Hill Street and Fairfield Avenue but have since been reopened.
It's not entirely clear what caused the bricks to fall, but officials say it's possible the weather could have been a factor.
City officials are working with the owners of the building to get a better assessment and ensure the area remains safe.
