Officer Eric Hernandez, 24, was killed last month at a White Castle in the Bronx. Police say a gang of six men attacked Hernandez, who was off-duty at the time. Hernandez pulled his gun and a fellow officer responding to the scene shot him three times after he refused to drop his weapon. Hernandez died Wednesday after his family took him off life support. All six men involved in the beating have been charged with gang assault, but the charges may be upgraded.
The wake services over the weekend were held at the Ballard Durand Funeral Home in White Plains. Hernandez?s funeral, with full police honors, will be held at Saint Bernard?s Church.
