The family of a Bridgeport man killed in 2020 is asking for help solving a cold case.
Police said Heriberto Marquez III was shot to death on the West End of Bridgeport in 2020.
His family says they've requested through the state's attorney's office that a reward be established for information leading to the arrest of his killer, but the request has not yet been granted.
Tuesday would have been his 28th birthday, but the family is using the date to ask for answers on his death.
"There are times when I'm driving on the highway, and I hear a song and it reminds me of Herbie. There are songs I attribute to his funeral that I can hear them because I immediately start to cry," Sharlene Sanchez said. “It's been four years since we lost my cousin Herbie. I don't want another four years to go by where nothing else is done."
Sen. Richard Blumenthal said he plans to meet with the victim's family and is pushing for stronger gun laws in memory of their loved one.
"We need to redouble our efforts here in the United States Congress in honor of Herbie Marquez," said Blumenthal. "I want justice. I want these cowards, these three individuals that were involved in my son's murder -- I want them all to get arrested," said Elizabeth Delgado, the victim’s mother.
Early in the investigation police surveillance video showed a person of interest but so far nobody's been arrested.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Bridgeport police at 203-576-TIPS.
