FDNY and NYPD to slug it out in NYC Battle Of The Badges

For the first time in nearly a decade, New York City's heroes will be stepping into the ring to slug it out.
FDNY's Bravest Boxing and NYPD's Finest Boxing will be competing in this year's "NYC Battle Of The Badges."
It's the first matchup between the two since 2015.
"Finally, we said we've got to do it again. The people want it. Our phones were ringing off the hook," said Pat Russo, director of NYPD Boxing. "Everybody wanted us to bring it back. And if you see how fast it sold out, the people were right."
The event will be held Friday, March 31 at Terminal 5 in Manhattan.
Proceeds from the event will go to two charities: Tunnel to Towers and the NYC Cops and Kids Boxing program.
"It's important to show that even though it's two different departments, they are going for something important," said eight-time New York City Golden Glove-winner and NYPD Officer Nisa Rodriguez
The last time these teams met, the NYPD beat the FDNY - drawing their all-time records to an even 16-16.
"It's bragging rights for the city. Naturally, both teams want to be on top," said FDNY Boxing Club president Bobby McGuire.
Battle of the Badges is a sold-out show. Those interested in watching the event can purchase the event's livestream for $20 in advance or $30 on the day.
