The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is scheduled to conduct a nationwide Emergency Alert System (EAS) test this Wednesday, around 2:20 p.m.
Wireless emergency alerts will be sent to cellphones, while the EAS portion of the test will be transmitted via radios and televisions.
The purpose of the test is to ensure that these systems remain effective means of warning the public about national emergencies.
Messages will clearly state that it is a test and no action is required by the public.
