Area Two Experimental Brewing will host guest chefs representing local and New York fire departments this weekend.
Daniel Brelsford, a Bridgeport firefighter and chef who once won the Food Network's "Chopped" competition, is bringing together four fellow chef-firefighters from New York and Bridgeport to feed Area Two guests with the Order Fire Pop-Up.
Brelsford says he loves sharing his recipes with others and good conversation around the dinner table, but he says the best part of cooking is the teamwork.
He met New York firefighters Eric Howard and AJ Fusco through the Food Network -- between them, the three have appeared on five TV shows. Fusco and Howard will also be cooking.
"Bringing everybody together [is] similar to the firehouse -- cutting through a roof, running a hose line, saving somebody's life are the little things that go into it," Brelsford said. "So you do all the little technical aspects, and your end goal is life safety ... kind of similar -- all the little details that bring together for the final goal."
Proceeds go to support the Arthur C. Luf Children's Burn Camp. Brelsford says the charity is close to his heart.
"These kids really get to heal from going to this camp, and learn, and get to associate with kids and have a sense of normalcy," he said.
The Order Fire Pop-Up kitchen will be open to Area Two customers for the same hours the brewery is open this weekend.
