First human case of West Nile virus reported in Connecticut this year

The first human case of West Nile virus was reported in the state, according to the Connecticut Department of Public Health Thursday.
DPH officials say the man is his 30s and lives in Middlesex County.
They say the man became ill during the first week of August, was hospitalized and has recovered.
West Nile is transmitted to humans through mosquito bites. Symptoms include fever, body aches, joint pain, headache and a rash.
In 2025, a total of six human West Nile Virus cases were reported in Connecticut.
