After being served a beating by the nor?easter flooding, the town of Weston is rushing to prevent a complete collapse of a bridge that is slowly crumbling into the water below. Cartbridge Road is located in between both Riverbank and Lyons Plain roads and stretches across the Saugatuck River. Weston officials barricaded the roads Thursday, forcing both vehicular and pedestrian traffic to find a different way around. First Selectman Woody Bliss (R-Weston) says the average traffic level in the area is low, so closing the bridge won?t cause major backups. ?It's just an inconvenience to the people," Bliss continues. Bliss says replacing the bridge could cost up to $1 million. Weston will apply for funding from FEMA to help with the costs.
