A former Shelton High School teacher is facing charges for having a sexual relationship with an underage student, police say.

Jason Kymer was arrested Friday.

Police say they discovered in June that Kymer, who was also a coach at the school, previously had a sexual relationship with a female student.

The victim told police that the sexual relationship with Kymer began when she was a 17-year-old student and that they had sex in the school.

During their investigation, police learned the victim blocked Kymer's phone number. However, she received a call from him that appeared as an unknown number. Police say after she recognized Kymer's voice, she told him "just do the right thing."

Kymer was charged with sexual assault, risk of injury to a child and tampering with a witness. He was released on bond and is expected to appear in court Aug. 25.

Anyone with information on this incident or similar incidents involving Kymer is asked to call detectives at 203-924-1544.
