The election is still a year-and-a-half away, but Rep. Jahana Hayes is already drawing a Republican competitor.

Former state Sen. George Logan jumped in the race. A Republican hasn't represented the 5th District in 14 years, but Logan says it's time to change that.

"The status quo isn't working for the people of Connecticut, and it's certainly not working for Washington either. It's time for someone different to tackle these common problems that we have - come up with sensible solutions," he says.

Hayes has a major head-start, as she's already raised over $1 million.
