Former UConn basketball stars will be playing for a chance to win $1 million
The team "Stars of Storrs" will be traveling to Pittsburgh to play in "The Basketball Tournament," also referred to as TBT.
The team features former UConn players such as Ryan Boatright and R.J. Cole, and is head coached by UConn's all-time career scoring leader Chris Smith.
Two-time national champion Tyler Olander will be keeping Smith company on the sideline as the team's assistant coach.
The single elimination tournament, which starts Friday, is made up of 64 teams and the winner will receive $1 million.
The team's first game will be on Saturday at 6 p.m.
General managing the team is UConn alumni and booster Marc D'Amelio.
"We have an incredible team. We did go outside of UConn to get 3 players; we needd some height. RJ Cole, Joey Calcaterra, Ryan Boatright; household names if you are a Uconn fan. It's been incredible to watch them," D'Amelio says.
If the team wins, D'Amelio says that $100,000 will be put into the D'Amelio Huskies NIL Collective and goes towards supporting UConn student-athletes.
You can watch the "Stars of Storrs" and the rest of the tournament on Fox Sports and the tournament's website.
