The Greater Bridgeport Transit Authority is now offering free bus service for the next three months.
The Greater Bridgeport Transit Authority will be suspending the collection of fares from April 1 through June 30 on both fixed route and GBT Access services.
Officials say passengers can take any bus, in any direction, as often as they would like – free of charge.
Greater Bridgeport Transit Authority head Doug Holcolm, accompanied by state lawmakers, pushed this effort on Friday to get people back on the bus as COVID cases dwindle and gas prices inflate.
Holcolm says the free fares are a great incentive for immigrants, veterans and students to take full advantage of this public transit holiday.
