Bronx kids who like to play sports can improve their game with free instruction and have fun during the summer at local parks.
The City Parks Foundation is holding track and field, and golf and tennis camps for children ages 5 to 16 to teach the basics of sports. The camps are set up at seven parks throughout the borough. Games are also modified for younger players so they can grasp the concept. Children who excel in the golf camp can also try out for intermediate levels, where they can play local courses like Split Rock without a fee.
However, organizers say the goal of the program is to keep Bronx kids safe, not to turn them into professionals. For more information contact the City Parks Foundation at 718-699-4200.
