The family and friends of a woman who was pulled from a river in Trumbull and died shortly after are grief-stricken today.
The incident happened at a point in the river between White Plains Road and Quarry Road near the WPCA Beardsley pump station around 8 p.m. Thursday.
Although they wish to not publicly identify her, family members and friends of the victim gathered to share their memories of the 41-year-old Bridgeport woman.
Investigators are still trying to piece together what ultimately led to the woman's death. A longtime friend of the victim, Elisa Lopez, says she and the victim used to come to a bridge in groups when they were much younger and jump off into the water for fun.
The 41-year-old woman was pulled from the Pequonnock River in Trumbull before she as transported to the hospital and later pronounced dead, officials say.
Lopez, and other family members say they are withholding the victim's name until all her family can be notified.
