Performers are always searching for their big break, and one Darien actor is getting hers just miles away from where her career began.
Kathleen Cameron is starring in "Come From Away" at the Palace Stamford, a venue where she was first introduced to live theater.
“It's really amazing," Cameron says. "A full circle moment for me."
The Darien native plays Bonnie and others in the musical, which is a true story about the selflessness and compassion of a small Canadian town where 7,000 plane passengers were rerouted when American airspace closed after the 9/11 attacks on New York’s World Trade Center.
“I feel like we need 'Come from Away' now more than ever," Cameron says. "The message of the story resonates with everyone, really."
After growing up in Darien Public Schools, Cameron studied theater at NYU, and has been doing sketch comedy in New York City.
She's imploring aspiring actors and actresses to soak up as much live theater as they can.
“Go see a local improv troupe or go see a ballet," Cameron says. "Because that will just add to the beautiful pallet in your brain, and tell you what you want to do."
The last chance to see the show in Stamford is Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
