A funding fight is shaping up in Hartford over education spending.

Gov. Ned Lamont is pushing for lawmakers to approve an extra $43 million for day care slots.

However, the issue lies in the fact that this additional funding would come at the expense of magnet schools and charter schools.

Lawmakers from both parties have expressed concerns and stated that they want to explore other avenues to fund child care.
