Governor Jodi Rell (R-CT) is meeting Monday with 15 mayors from across the state to discuss ways to combat youth violence.Several of the mayors are from southwestern Connecticut where there has been a huge rise in violence, especially in Norwalk and Stratford.
In the last month, Stratford has been dealing with a string of shootings in what police say is a turf war between a group of youths. A 19-year-old was killed during one of the shootings. Norwalk has also seen a spike in gang violence. In the last 14 months there has been 10 murders among youths.
