Greenwich is working to prevent drunk driving during the holiday season.
The Greenwich Police Department teamed up with Riverside Service to offer free rides and towing. It’s their spinoff of Uber or Lyft for Greenwich residents and is being offered through Jan. 3.
"No one should be driving intoxicated or buzzed,” said Lt. Pat Smyth, the public information officer for the Greenwich Police Department. "You may party a little more than you have planned. This is a backup that can safely get yourself and your car home without taking that risk of trying to drive drunk, crashing, getting arrested."
They're also making it as seamless as they can, so residents feel comfortable calling instead of grabbing their keys and getting behind the wheel.
"You call us, we call Riverside and it's completely anonymous,” said Smyth. “We don't keep track of who calls us."
That non-emergency number is 203-622-8004 and is open for any Greenwich residents in need of a safe ride home.
