Police made an arrest Wednesday in the murder of a man whose body was found on a North Greenwich road, but they remain tight-lipped on details surrounding the case.
The body of 49-year-old George McPherson, of the Bronx, was found along Sterling Road two weeks ago. Police say McPherson had been shot in the chest multiple times and was dumped in Greenwich.
Greenwich police arrested 35-year-old Larry Corbett, of Bridgeport, in connection to McPherson?s murder. Corbett was arrested on a warrant for conspiracy to commit murder. Police say many leads they were following helped track Corbett down to his apartment. They say he has a violent criminal history.Greenwich Police Chief David Ridberg couldn't talk about a motive, the relationship between the suspect and the victim or the role drugs may have played in the crime. Ridberg says he expects more arrests to follow and won?t divulge any more information on the case. Due to possible pending arrests, a judge has sealed all the facts and circumstances regarding the investigation.
Corbett is being held on $750,000 bond. Greenwich police had assistance from a number of other agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Agency and agencies in Washington, D.C.
