A Greenwich school board member held a rally Thursday to push for later high school start times.
Board member Peter Von Braun joined supporters at Town Hall.
He says he's been pushing the issue for years.
Countless studies show that teenagers perform better in school if they get more sleep, Von Braun says.
Delaying the start time will lead to better mental and physical health for high schoolers, he says.
He says he hopes a petition he put into circulation Wednesday will receive between 5,000 and 10,000 signatures.
Other board members oppose the idea. The superintendent plans to give a presentation on the issue to the board on Sept. 10.
