Greenwich is just one of the southwestern Connecticut school districts taking a "better safe than sorry approach" after recent school shootings in Bailey, Colorado and Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The district sent a letter to parents Friday telling them about new safety steps it will be taking. Those steps include hiring a director of security, conducting lockdown drills in all of the schools, giving teachers access to the 911 system from their classrooms and a review of all safety procedures. The district said it is also in the process of setting up a $275,000 camera system in its high school.
