Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County held its first virtual house dedication on Saturday.
Organizers say it felt great to help Tynesia Bell and her three kids celebrate the joy of becoming first-time homeowners amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Habitat usually brings people together in person for house dedications but opted to hold the ceremony over Zoom.
"In a time of heartbreak and hardship, Habitat continuing this virtual event is a testament to its perseverance and its dedication to the American dream,” says Sen. Richard Blumenthal.
Bell says she was grateful as a single, working mother to get a zero-interest loan.
